Love without reason
Is a weakness
What leads to man?s distruction.
Therefore
Educate your reason
As love you cannot avoid.
Hubert, will you share who wrote this?
Reason is a tool of the mind and I would rather have tools of the heart to lead me in love. Wouldn’t you?

Sure, I would. It could mean that you find love first, as love is unavoidable, and then find a reason later. You can find a reason to love just about anybody/anything in the world if you wanted to.

That’s an easy one. My ego.
Hubert,
I always admire you as an excellent student of Yoga! I have to think that you must be rewarded for the courage that you act with. Really…
It is one thing to act with ego and be unaware.
It is another to act with ego and then when asked, to point fingers and shout, "The ego did it!"
It is quite another to act with ego, to be aware, and to stand-by-side with your ego and say, “We did” as you did in your way here.
I really commend you for this. I hope to model myself as you do. I also believe that this is a critical step for the further and still-unknown-to-me evolution.
With great respect and love,
Nichole, you really are a good friend, and someone who makes me always check myself, and my actions. Visting this forum is a substantial part of my sadhana … the latter being perhaps too serious a word.
This makes me think of another question that is possibly much more difficult to answer. What is Love? I ask this because I am doubtful two people ever give the same answer. I have never heard two people give the same answer. Before I attempt to answer this ‘difficult’ question, I would like to see what answers might pop up!
Hi Jozen-Bo,
For me love = truth, no matter where you are even in romantic love, if you are in your own Truth then love will be there as well. It is when we are out of our own Truth that we are out of love and then fear starts to invade. So, because each person’s Truth is different from the next one, therefore each person’s description/expereince of love will be different as well. My own pov, not necessarily true, but true for me.
Anyone seen Bentinho ? I kinda’ miss him.
Bentinho is in India for 6 months, somewhere on retreat in the Himalayas near Rishikesh.
Wow. Good for him. (We’ll all benefit of that, I am sure)
I just came to say that reason, and jnana are just as good tools as the heart and bhakti. Not necessarily opposing ones.

Sorry, couldn’t help it.

OK, so you know you are my absolute hero now right?!?
I don’t even need to link because I can sing almost all of this crappy song from memory! I even have the background vocals dialed!
Erm, given the most sacred nature of the subject, from now on, I ask everyone to perform aswimi-mudra when writing into this thread.
i have a very strong mischievous streak that loves bad music and acting silly.
i am sorry hubert for disrupting the sanctity of your thread–pls don’t be cross.
LOL, I got you !!!
It was a hint to not be too tight of an arse, as I use to be …
You did indeed! See, you have a mischievous streak too!
Your friend and fellow rascal,
Nichole
The problem with love is that you can love things in a wrong way. And when you do that, you will end up losing your Self, unless you use discrimination and dispassion, so the Self comes first, and the “things” you love are second.
But because we do not know the Self, loving is always a risk, and you might be deceived greatly. The most important difference between love and attachment is our capacity to let the object of our love go. If you cannot let something go, that is attachment. If you can let it go, but you chose not to for the sake of that thing ot person, than it is love. Love is a deliberate act, and only well grounded in our higher Self we can be totally safe from attachment.
Because of this, everyone’s duty is to come as close to the higher Self and our best shape and form as flesh, vitality, soul and ego, as we can, because this way we do less damage both to us and other people. Serving someone, something because you are attached to that thing or person, is bondage, no matter what ideology or instinct is behind it.
I feel like two pitbulls just had a fight in my bowels. I really need some rest, if I continue this way, I will never be able to create that beautiful flower in my heart.
PS, Sometimes the deception is so well crafted that you almost touch some dark presence behind it. When you end up breaking every rule you know, losing everything good, and finally realize that you really did not recieve anything for it … that is damnation. I was close, too darn close to that.
I see good answers to the question!!! Love is such a huge word! Does it have anything to do with light? Attraction? What does the essence of love look like? I Love everything and everyone, and, yes, I can easily depart without the pains of attachment.
I always felt that love was the greatest bonding force of them all.
Oh Yeah…"What is Love…Baby don’t hurt me…don’t"
LOL
Heres another one “What’s love got to do…got to do…got to do with the emotion”.
LOL
Best Regards,
Jozen-Bo
Love is beautiful, and I am more and more absorbed by it. I really have nothing else, nowhere to go, no place to rest, but there, where this love shines.
I’ll be seeing you.
