Love hot yoga, but worried about losing weight

Hi everyone !

I started hot bikram yoga a month ago, and I go there once a week, and do weights at the gym once a week aswell. I’m a naturally thin person and weight about 52 kg and have been struggeling with gaining more weight and curves all my life (i’m 23 now). Therefore i’m worried about the potential weight loss bikram yoga can give me. My body transforms and responds very quickly to workouts (or the lack of it) – therefore i’m always able to tell if my body changes.

It is also worth mentioning, that even though i’m a thin person, I have the last couple of year been noticing some cellulite on the back of my thighs and above my knee (probably hereditary, as my mom has it in the exact same places).

After the 2 last session of bikram i’ve been noticing that my thighs and behind are looking thinner, as well as my ankles looking more bony. The cellulite seems to have disappeared as well, which is of course a good thing, but I don’t feel comfortable with looking more skinny than I already am.

Is it possible that i’m losing fat/cellulite because of bikram so fast? I want to continue to practice it, but I don’t want to end up looking scrawny and lose all of the fat/curves that makes me look feminine.

Have any of you experienced this or do you have any advice in this regard?

Hi lemon! I wouldn’t worry to much about losing more weight from bikram yoga as long as you are eating regularly. However, since you also workout at the gym, that may burn more calories for you which will result in weight loss. If you really want to keep doing both bikram yoga and weights at the gym I suggest you eat more calorie dense foods to balance things out.
