If I look back to my life, I find that illness, depression or any other bad things that happened to me was beneficial to me on a higher level, while good health, and wealth made me content and stagnant in ignorance. Suffering is a the best guru. I am not saying suffering is good, per se. It is bad, and exactly that is it’s purpose. It stirs us, makes us think, act, seek, and eventually, find relief. It is a unique master … it teaches us things noone would dare to teach us, because it would be pure cruelty on their part.
And even so it would be a terrible thing if we would be doomed to suffer by others. But it is not so. It takes time to realize, that behind the terrible things we face, there is a person. And we get to know that person more and more … until we find that person to be us.
