I’m wondering if someone can tell me how you pick which meridians are affected by a yoga pose. Is there a science to this? Thanks
Because of the lack of response, I’m beginning to wonder if this question comes from a mix of traditions – Chi meridians from TCM and Prana. With the possible exceptions of nida and pingala, I haven’t seen prana described as flowing through meridians.
Albeit, I haven’t been actively looking.
You could have a look at the book Acu-yoga by Michael Reed Gach. He has made a link between acupressure meridians and hatha yoga postures.
paul grilley’s book ‘yin yoga’ inspired by the work of japanese yogi ,TCM researcher Dr Hiroshi Motoyama mentions the relationships between meridians, yin yoga postures and connective tissue & muscle. he says this type of yoga can open up connective tissue, sort of between muscle and bone, that other types of yoga are not so good at doing.
he does’nt go into that much depth and there are no maps as such.
now interesting, it was at first a little confusing to read ,as chi and prana come from different tradtions.
Hello Everyone,
Chi and Prana are the same. Meridans and nadis are the same. The former, in thought and “tradition,” evolved from the later.
Peace,
