Hi,
Yoga is designed to yoke or unite or fuse individual consciousness and awareness (atma or the human soul) with super conscious awareness (Paramatma or the Supreme Being), which is, but a natural state of mind for both. Ultimately, this yoking process leads to a realisation of identity, and by integrating mind, body and spirit; it enhances physical and mental health and well-being, even as it helps attain spiritual insight and harmony, a union with the divine. The benefits of yoga are that you can experience an increase in the flexibility of your body and reduction of stress.Yoga?s special exercises, breathing and meditation techniques are renowned for cleansing the body of toxins, improving the muscle tone, as well as, blood circulation.

Hi,
Ancient practitioners have likened yoga to a living tree with six branches coming from the trunk, with each branch having its own unique function relating to a particular lifestyle. The Yoga Sutras of Patanjali is one of the six darshanas of Hindu or Vedic schools and, alongside the Bhagvada Gita and Hatha Yoga Pradipika, is a milestone in the history of Yoga.

Hi to all students,
Exercise is a great stress reliever, but we all know that twenty five minutes of gym isn?t exactly what one would call therapeutic. Yoga is an excellent way to unwind, calm nerves, or just take a break from your day. While yoga is physical exercise, it is also mental, allowing your mind to take a break as well. Yoga gives you peace of mind and clarity, which really helps after a long day or before a big test.

Blood flows through the body at a certain pressure, but if the pressure is higher than the normal range, then you can say you suffer from High Blood Pressure, and if it drops below what is considered the normal range, then it is called Low Blood Pressure. Blood Pressure is a killer disease brought on by constant fear, anger, anxiety, excessive thinking, mental tensions, or even from exerting yourself physically. However, Yoga can help you back to a healthy blood pressure level, of which you must be aware of, if, you have read any Yoga books, texts, or listened to audiotapes on yoga. In case, you have, then no doubt, you must have come across Yoga Guru Patanjali, who defined Yoga as: [I]“A steady and comfortable state of Body and Mind means Asana (posture)”.

Practising Yoga makes us aware that there is an inter-connectedness between our emotional, mental and physical levels, as we gradually begin to understand the more subtle areas of existence. The ultimate goal of yoga is to make it possible and enable one to fuse together the gross material (annamaya), physical (pranamaya), mental (manomaya), intellectual (vijnanamaya) and spiritual (anandamaya) levels, within our being.
While, meditation can take the consciousness beyond conscious, sub conscious and unconscious states to super consciousness, the question is how can one achieve that?
It can be achieved through meditation and the first step in the process is to select an object to concentrate on, with the help of your eyes, nose, ears, mouth and touch, as follows:
? Eyes ? fix your gaze upon the selected object,
? Mouth - recite a mantra or sloka aloud,
? Ears ? listen to the mantra, as you say it, or put on an audiotape of the mantra.
? Furthermore, empty the mind of all thoughts, and do not think of anything else, only concentrate on the selected object as part of the mediation process.
