Morning Routine

I have been doing some pranayams (the 6 pranayams recommended by Baba Ramdevji) on and off during evening. Followed by that I do some brisk cycling of 3 minutes. I am not able to do this on a regular basis due to all kinds of other committments. i.e. work and family.

I have decided to do this in the morning instead even though I am not a morning person. But nobody said achieving anything in life was going to be easy.

I have been doing some thinking lately, what should be the right order, I mean doing pranayams first followed by cycling or cycling followed by pranayams? I am looking for inputs and reasons for the same.

I am aware that most of the times it is difficult to give any advice becuase of inadequte information; so please ask me out. After all these forums were formed for the very purpose.

Hi yalgaar,

Do it when you can, or when it better suits to you, or when you do it best.

I neither ain’t a morning person, except meditation i do the rest of sadhanas during afternoon, evening and night.

Yes, life commitments hamper our spiritual work, that’s why i gave up working in an office and started as freelancer. I also decided not to marry and having no children.
Sometimes i think about adopting the vows of sanyasa, and living in a hut in the Himalayas…

If my wife reads this post, she will stop my yoga completely with the fear that I will also adopt the vows of sanyasa. just kidding.

I just wanted to make sure there is no harm in doing those pranayams after a 3 minute brisk cycling (my heard rate goes up)

Can’t answer, but…
why not doing some few Surya Namaskar rounds in place of cycling?

No reason not to. Just didn’t think about it. Also for some reason my wrists are not so stong.

Don’t worry, the order goes like this:

  1. Brahmacharya, 1st 20 - 25 years of life.
  2. Grihastha, 25 - 50
  3. Vanaprastha, 50 - 75
  4. Sanyasa 75+

You don’t need strong wrists for practicing Surya Namaskar… average wrists suffice.
