Most rigorous teacher training for yoga

Hi everyone,

I am wondering what people on here think is the most rigorous “style” of yoga when it comes to teacher training. By this I mean, not just which style teaches the asanas with the greatest depth, but which offers a prospective teacher the best chance of learning the bigger yoga picture, and hopefully being able to pass that on to their students too.

It would be interesting to hear your views.

All best wishes

I don’t think this is relative to a “style”. One can find teachers embodying compassion during the use of command language, find a teacher’s teacher, find one who is living what she/he is teaching, find one steeped int he practice over the span of several decades, fond one that has a lineage such that both knowledge AND wisdom have been passed down AND that it is not disempowering that teacher from mindful development of yoga moving forward…

These were the things I was seeking and I was satisfied in finding Aadil Palkhivala as the teacher (for me). I am certain there are other “rigors” in training. Having not taken them I cannot compare or contrast.

But in the seven years of my dedicated study I’ve not been disappointed once.

I agree with Gordon. Ideally your regular practice would be with a teacher who gives you the complete picture and helps you to become a skillful practitioner.
Unfortunately there are not many teachers who do that.
