In Swami Satyananda Saraswati’s book ‘Kundalini Tantra’ he gives various exercises for awakening each chakra.
One of the exercises given for the awakening of Ajna chakra is repeated practice of Ashwini Mudra (contraction and relaxation of the anus).
This is not exactly Moolha Bandha, but it’s close, and many beginners will tend to combine Moolha Bandha and Aswini Mudra until they learn to subtly differentiate the muscle groups.
Anyway, this practice is supposed to stimulate Ajna chakra.
As the book also discusses, the chakras are closely connected with the nervous system, which is centralised in the brain. Mooladhara Chakra may be situated at the perineum/cervix in the external physical body, but the nerves that are stimulated there run up into the brain and the cortex, where they may be intimately connected with the physical position of Ajna chakra.
It’s like the idea that we seem to feel things with our fingers, but our fingers just contain nerve endings which run up into the brain and are processed by the somato-sensory cortex at the very top of the head.
Thanks swaaropa for the info
I was also searching today myself and found a bit about it in the biology of the kundalini book.
The coccygeal gland is fed by sympathetic (adrenergic) from the first two ganglion and by parasympathetic (cholinergic) nerves; and by the median sacral artery and vein, directly influencing the nervous system via chemical messages arising from the blood. It is several millimeters in diameter and is composted of epithelioid cells and smooth muscle cells. A study suggests its possible blood forming function and an immune-modulatory activity by the regulation of the sympathetic nervous system through noradrenergic control.
So i am stimulating the pituitary gland …what about pineal ? are both of them connected ?
