Music

I love music when I practice!! I was wondering what music do you listen to when you practice yoga? I need some new ideas for my library!! Thanks so much!!

When Time Stood Still - Shivkumar Sharma (Pandit)

This question has been asked before. It may be helpful to do a search. Really anything that isn’t too jarring. I had a teacher play Snow Patrol, Radio Head and Massive Attack during floor work in a class yesterday and it was absolutely beautiful and it worked.

My favorites are Krishna Das,Jai Uttal,Dave stringer,Sade. But I also play stuff like Radiohead,Eddie Vedder and Kanye West. Just depends.

Seeker33…thanks so much I really like that!!

Shanna…I LOVE Massive Attack!! I love most of what you just said!! I was hoping for more original yoga inspired music!! Krishna Das is WONDERFUL as well!! Thanks so much for the advice in your music!!

Sunyuting…heavy it is you like!! You rock on with your yoga practice for sure!!

Hi Christine,

Here’s some of my faves:

Bruce Becvar (any) instrumental, guitar.

Purnamadah by Shantala
Om Namo Bhagavate by Deva Premal
Gayatri (Luscious Chill Mix) by Wah
Last Train Home by Pat Metheny Group
Freefloat by Aural Float

I’m a yoga instructor and I have noticed that the 3 songs
that are in bold have been very powerful and healing
when I play them at the end of class or during savasana.

shaola chandra, deva premal, any lamakarta - real tibetian chanting style

Thanks Anna and City Monk!! I’ll look into all your choices for sure!!

Music can really change the whole vibe of a yoga session, so it’s fun to experiment with different moods. Lately, mellow electronic beats and soft indie tracks have been perfect for my evening flow—just enough rhythm to keep things moving without distracting me. A friend suggested checking sirius xm radio reviews to find good themed stations, and that actually helped me discover a couple of great chill-out channels. On slower days, I go for nature sounds or Tibetan bowls, especially during longer stretches. It’s amazing how the right playlist makes even a simple practice feel like a mini retreat at home.
