My butt comes off the ground

Hello, I recently bought the Yogazone Meditation DVD and have a question about one of the asanas.

The asana is basically like Upavishtha Konasana A but one leg is pulled in to the groin. You then bend forward, but when I do my butt comes off the ground, even if I bend forward just a little. Is that supposed to happen?

What you describe sounds like Janu Sirsasana but there’s no way your butt could come off the ground doing that.

Could you post a picture or maybe describe it more fully?

Yes imagine Janu Sirsasana but the leg that points forwards goes out to the side.

So if you do Janu Sirsasana with the left leg pulled in and the right leg forward, leave the left leg where it is and put the right leg out to the side as it would be in Upavishtha Konasana A.

It is Upavishtha Konasana A with the left leg pulled in the same as Janu Sirsasana, If a better description is needed I will post a picture.

OK…now I understand.

If the left leg is bent, then place a block/cushion under the left buttock…that should keep the pelvis level when you fold forward. It sounds counter-intuitive but if you were to put a block under the buttock of the straight leg, it would tilt the pelvis even further.

Hope that helps.
