My Daughter Looked into Her Mirror

?I can see my eyes Daddy
And my eyes see you.
Do your eyes see my eyes??
In the mirror I watched her eyes
And saw the past reflected in them.

I fell forward into the darkness
And saw the old mother stumble and catch herself,
Put a hand to her brow and whisper
A prayer that breathed fire into a butterfly.

It flew out and into colours brightened
By the hot afternoon sun
Lighting up a valley below
Swarming with bodies riding the tide of day.

Oval, wide and dark orbs
Blink a smile of pure spirit,
?Your eyes are my eyes
And you will see what I?ve seen.?
All the eyes - from the dawn of time.
