My face is tingling?

Hi all!

Im new to this forum, and new to the world of yoga. So thanks for this forum, its nice for someone like me who likes to read.

I have a question concerning pranayama. I have been doing it for some time, usually i do 15 mins in a ratio of 1:1:2 (inhale, retain, exhale), and its just great, i felt the effect the very first time, and it has only gotten better since i became a vegetarian, i feel. But why does my entire face, and sometimes my wrists, start to tingle/vibrate when im doing the exersise?

Its not uncomfortable, at all. It’s a bit funny actually. I have googled my behind off, but i cant seem to find an answer to my question, so here i am.

I have bad facial skin, im working a lot on that, and also sometimes my wrists hurt when its really cold. The parts of my face where my skin is worst, it tingles the most, so i cant help thinking if it is the “prana” which is working my skin condition?

Have anyone here tried something similar?

Namaste

Although quite rare, there is an allergy to cold. It is called “cold urticaria.”

Try the same pranayama without the retention and report back.

gordon

Just did it again (with the retention though, just saw your recommendation), and i happened again.

But how come you advise me to try without retention? Should i avoid getting this tingling sensation? I dont think its an allergie, my guess would be that an allergie wouldt be unpleasant, and it’s still a good feeling

Sorry for not just following order, but i need to know why to do or not to do stuff

Just finished a 15 min session in the ration 4:8 (inhale:exhale) with 3,75 breaths pr. min.

Perhaps i should mention that the session mentioned before were 5,22 breaths pr. min.

I didnt get any tingling this time, and also i do not feel as relaxed and “gooood” as i did yesterday for an example.

What do you recon gordon?

Tingling with an energy you never felt before?
Not bad?

Well, thats what i am asking. Is it bad or what?

I hoped to hear something like; “Thats fine, dont worry - keep up!” or “Thats the one thing you shouldnt feel! Stop immediately!” so your answers kinda confuse me.

Please?

pls. no worry at all. he (gordon) gonna come (i say) and blow all your confusions & keep your breath high.

no jokes, i swear. take care.

there are a variety of physical causes of face tingling, and because almost everyone takes a plate-full of anti-psychotic drugs every day, the first response to any spiritual experience and/or sensation is: “it’s probably health related.”

it usually is, truthfully.

but if you are in great health and you aren’t on a plethora of meds, then you can rest assured that it is the effect of pranic body.

if you want to know more about the energy body, then i suggest you study NEW energy ways by one Robert Bruce. he’s the foremost expert alive today.

he doesn’t teach pranayama (at least he doesn’t teach breath-retention, which is an essential component for advanced attainment), nor does he teach samadhi or enlightenment, though he does teach Kundalini-related techniques. much of his work is available for free on the internet and he is plagiarized regularly.

that said, here is your answer, simply put: prana. you were right. the reason you can’t find resources on the web is because most people study but do not practice and therefore they aren’t familiar with the purpose/results of the sacred texts that they study. it’s a shame but we shouldn’t blame them; they do the best they can with what they’ve got. we live in a judgemental, harsh world where people are afraid to fail or look like failures and they compensate with over-study so they can fit in with their oppressors.

study, practice and attain the highest peaks of spiruality and then you can know what i’m talking about here.

good luck to you. keep up with Kumbhaka it’s very effective for a very, very long time.

I started my journey about 1 year ago. I have “traveled” alone, since none of my friends care about this kinda stuff, so it has been very tough. Mainly because i have had no one to talk with my developement about. Yoga, and especially spirituality is not considered normal arround here. But i just knew that i had to keep on going.

So thank you Dale, you just made my shoulders feel a lot lighter. I almost can tell you how much it means for me to hear that it is the pranic body working. It means the world to me  Prana for the win!

And thank you for your advice, i will look into his work.

that’s the norm; don’t let it weigh you down. if you seriously want a peer group now, you might find them online. this is your opportunity (while the internet functions optimally) to build that group and progress together.

during kumbhaka murcha, there are many milestones. hit me up as you cross them (as i’ve been through them all) and i’ll point you in the right direction.

ps- don’t let anyone discourage you from practice. make this lifetime count, it should be your last.

Don’t worry about the tingling. It happens to me regularly when I feel the inner body, sitting in my own beingness. It starts from the crown of my head then my whole face tingles, my body follows suit. Even without breathing techniques the energy is full and alive, when I read a certain book, listen to a certain teacher, sometimes I am overcome by feelings of tingling when in conversation. It seems to respond quite naturally on it’s own. I was once told by a friend that eventually the energy shall only manifest in the 3rd eye. But I am yet to experience this. I know only of what I have stated.
