N00b to Jalaneti.Burning forehead?

Hi Guys;
Background: I get very serious and defeaning pain if I get hungry and it happens every day.From my hypothesis its because of more acid in stomach which makes gas which somehow initiates migraine or sinus head ache.Is it possible or am I really wrong?

So i started to practice jalaneti since last few days and saw some videos from Youtube how to do it as well.I followed exactly the same procedure.

However I feel a great burning sensation when the water enters the forehead.It’s like the feeling when you have too much tiger balm applied on the forehead but only on inside the head.is it natural to have this pain?Or is it because I have something wrong with the sinus?

Thanks for your time in reading and answering.

The water needs to be a pure as possible. (not tap - ideally. Filtered)

The water needs salt to more closely match your own body chemistry.

about a teaspoon a liter

or

about a pinch or two depending on the amount of water being used up . . .

Hello BR,

Are you asserting that you are unable to hear as a result of the pain you mention? If that is the case (deafening) then please say more about this so that we can direct you more appropriately.

Generally speaking the stomach should be acidic. It’s lack of function is more often from not being acidic enough to do its job. And acidic stomach, in and of itself, does not make for gas.

Neti should be practiced under the guidance of a teacher, not the guidance of a stranger with a video camera and a broadband connection to the Internet.

My guess, based on what little information you provide (no info about your mixture, your process, your age, your actions) is that the concentration of salt in your water is too great and/or you are not maintaining an appropriate level with the head while doing.

How long are you waiting before eating? How long after your last meal does the pain start, and how long does it take to get extremely painful?
To me it sounds as if you need to see a doctor, it is not normal to have extreme pain in the stomach every day. Do go get yourself diagnosed.

I think Gordon is right about the neti treatment, and it truly is hard to know how to help without details! :slight_smile:

Hello Guys;

Thanks for the replies.

I have added salt in and now the pain in the nose when practicing the Neti is gone.But now when practicing the Neti it feels like some of the water is also going to the ears or rather feel like there is pressure exerted in the ear drum with slight pain.

But as I mentioned before the biggest problem is the head ache.I have almost given upon this one and the details are as follows.

Typically it starts like this.At about 3/4 PM, I feel a bitter taste in the stomach and a dry mouth. After about 30 minutes I feel a ticking sensation on my head right under the hair on the nerve patterns which is a pre cursor of the head ache to come.The pain sets in steadily.The top center hemisphere of the eyes also has a pointed pain inside the eye balls.Later the head ache disappears and the pain in the eyes increases.Then it again spread to the head and a bitter taste sets in the mouth along with a monstrous hunger.I have tried having a lot of food and having nothing.With no food the pain just increases.Having food there is an urge immediately after consumption to pas motion and the hunger appears again.I have tried water, salt, lemon,ginger etc.The stomach just blows up like a balloon with gas presumably and something like ginger makes some gas escape but its still big.The pain moves to the middle forehead(Sinus perhaps?) and some time some mucus comes to throat and from Nose.Occasionally some gas escapes and the pain at peaks remain constant with very tired eyes and occasional blacked feeling like something is covering it.I have sensitivity to noise which can cause head ache and this becomes acute.I normally sleep with ear plugs and eye cover.

Next day morning the Urine has a very strong smell(Normally too it has a strong smell).The pain becomes passive and eyes a still tired and the hunger quite remains.Plus very thick mucus come from the nose(Sinusitis)?

I have food at normal times morning at about 8Am,lunch between 12-1 and dinner between 7-9.

The pain starts in the evening about 3-4PM.Then it gradually increases and by about 6-7PM its a heavy dull pain with slightly watery eyes.I have had this for almost 2 years.

I did go to few doctors.Never to the English medicine.The Chinese doctor told me the head ache is Sinus and did some accupuncture and the pain reduced for few days and then came back.The Ayurvedic doctor put me on 21 days treatment with massage.Helped for some time but came back.The latest chinese doctor said my liver is weak and need accupuncture costing about 1000Eur:(

I have healthy food and no junk food.Very strange why it come.

If there are any details missing I would be happy to provide if some one can help.

Try to adjust the level of your head while you are practicing so that water flows in one nostril and directly out the other. If you are tilting your head further back, there is a tendency for water to flow down the throat or further into the sinus cavities. This can be useful for cleansing those areas more, but if you are experiencing pressure pain then I suggest starting simply so that you don’t feel the pressure changes in the ear canal… It shouldn’t seem like you are flooding the sinuses, but a warm, gentle trickle from one nostril to the other only.

Make sure you blow your nose gently after doing jala neti, to clear out what you have stirred up, but not so hard as to pop your ears. Perhaps bend gently forward also and move the head around to be sure that you are getting all of the water out of your nasal passages. If you already have sinus problems or any type of sinus infection, then you will likely experience little nuances like pressure feelings on the ear drums until you you have perfected the technique for yourself, or you have resolved those ailments through continuous practice. Good luck :slight_smile:
