Hello everyone. My name is John and I’m new to this forum, so I just thought I’d poke my head in here and let you know who I am.
I practiced yoga for a brief time in my 20’s and really enjoyed it. I have NO idea why I didn’t continue. I think I simply got caught up in the thick of thin things.
My wife and I recently decided to sign up for a beginners class at the gym we attend, so we’re both excited to get into Yoga together.
I’m almost 40 years old, a correctional officer working to get teen-age boys off of drugs and out of gangs, as well as obtain their highschool diploma or equivalency. I’ve been married for 13 years and we have two beautiful children: David is 11 and LeighAnn is 9. They are the LIGHT of my life!!!
The name “Pesilat-Yogi” comes from a martial art that I study that comes from Indonesia (West Java to be exact). I study three martial arts and teach one (so far). Martial arts has been a big part of my life for over 31 years now. The martial art from Java is called Pentjak Silat, aka: “Silat” for short. A “Pesilat” is a person who does silat. The art has a very strong emphasis on exact body alignment and fluid grace…therefore I’ve been considering how Silat and Yoga compliment each other.
I look forward to reading and interacting with you all, learning MUCH and contributing when I can.
Your Brother
John
