Need help

Recently I am catching my breath too quickly …so what should i do to gain more energy ?

Do not understand your question my friend.

What is catching the breath and how is it related to your energy?

what i meant is after running for a while my heart starts pounding heavily and can’t run for a while

And about energy…its a separate question i often feel lethergic in the summer so what should i do

A) Try a sattvic diet with light foods.
B) Are you perhaps pre-diabetic.
C) Perhaps you are overweght and need to get off the couch more.
D) Your digestive system is slow in metabolising food and supplying you with energy.
E) Too much refined foods with colourants and preservatives.
F) Too much flesh of dead animals in your diet.
G) Too little fibre in your diet.

I can only guess because you give us so little infomation about yourself, your life style etc, so it is difficult to answer your question.

But I’ll stop guessing until you give us more info, that way members on the forum might be able to help you better.

This sounds normal to me, usually after swimming or cycling for a while my heart also starts to pound heavily, I would be worried if it didn’t. Afterwards I am also too exhausted to swim of cycle for a while, but my heart beat returns to normal within a few minutes and a few hours later I feel ready to swim or cycle some more.

Again Gourab, you give us so little information we can only guess. In order for members to answer especially questions relating to health issues people need some background about your habits, lifestyle etc.

Well, I used to play football regualarly till Oct. 07 but i stopped for some academic reasons and at that time i could run for atleast 30 minutes without panting but from this month i suddenly found myself getting out of breath during a match thats why i am worried

I’m assumin you mean ‘football’, calcio, fussball, soccer, a match not a game - not American Football.

from strictly an aerobic conditioning perspective, 3 weeks off from what might be the ‘normal’ level of aerobic conditioning work for any athlete (that would include frequency and level of aerobic work) will find that athlete noticing a substantial reduction in conditioning.
6 months of ‘off’ time will certainly have anyone solidly at their new ‘lower’ conditioning level - whatever that result might be.
to get back up to where you came down from will take some serious, hard re-conditioning work.
But then if you;re surprised by this, you must be pretty young. If you’re like many of us, we’ll go through that cycle so often , its a wonder we attempt to get back to ‘shape’ at all. :frowning:
The result of neglect can be disconcerting, but the opposite - building yourself up in all aspects, is dharma. And what else is there?

panting and a pounding heart are pretty good indications you;re still alive  - fitness being another issue.
don’t use it, you lose it… works for a lotta stuff

Hi Gourab,

The neglect of six months is now visible and I think you feel it. It will take time to build your fitness level up again. But, then again if this is really worrisome to you why don’t you go and see a doctor who can do a good check-up and if anything is wrong he/she will be able to alert you to it.

Are you interested in Yoga practice too?

Working off what Nichole asked, your best bet…YOGA! My breath capacity increased by ten-fold when I began yoga. It strengthen your breath and you will be thankful for it.

yah i am interested

Hi Gourab,

As Nicole asks are you interested in yoga. Although I cycle and swim, I am more focussed on yoga as that is where my passion and interest resides. Try yoga, it might open a new world of experience and understanding to you.

I have never done yoga before so help me trying them…need instructons

Gourab,

Learning yoga over the internet is like watching TV throught a keyhole, you will never get the full picture. Find a teacher or studio in your twon/city.

You may wish to try some pranayama exercises as they have helped many students with their lung capacity and stamina.

I would suggest 4 Part Breathing to start with, and then move onto more advanced pranayamas as your capacity develops.

Here is a link to the 4 Part Deep Breathing exercise I mentioned above…

Let me know if you need more info…

Gourab,
Please do a search for wrist to find many existing threads and add your specifics there. Please do not mix the thread topics.

Thank you,

I would suggest just try and find more time to train. I find the best cardio is running and martial arts. Also diet and breathing are very important. Learning and studying yoga can be great with both of those.
