New here... excited to connect

Hi everyone,
I am new to this forum and signed up to stay connected to yogis all over the globe. I recently moved to Colorado after living in Northern California for a few years, and I’ve been interested in the different methods of teaching and structuring the practice. I am am both a teacher and a student. I travel frequently, so something new to my practice is “taking my teachers with me where I go.” I have just started to use podcasts, DVDs and CDs so that my home practice stays consistent, or so when I travel I know I can still get my yoga on from anywhere. I want to hear what tools other travelers and home practitioners use, and will be sharing my experiences too.

Looking forward,
m

Hi, mcave! I’m glad you’ve found the forums!
When I travel I find that it’s good for me to embrace the inconsistency – that my body asks for different asanas, especially if I’ve spent a long time in an airplane or need to acclimate to a different time zone.
I haven’t done it yet, though each time I travel I wonder why I haven’t – eventually I’m going to get a set of ‘yogi paws’: rather than a full mat, it’s a pair of gloves and slippers that put a little bit of mat just under your hands and feet. Very portable, but I don’t know how well they wear.

Any information they ask us to post will be done via this forum set.
Keep a eye out!

Dear m,

Welcome to these forums!
Where in Colorado?

Like you, I too am a teacher and forever student of yoga.

Best with Blessings,
Namaste,

Nancy

Welcome M!

Welcome!

I currently live in Washington, however I was born and raised in Northern California.

Currently I am a yoga student who relies mostly on DVDs, CDs, and podcasts for my home practice do to the remote area I reside in.

I also use books and still love Yoga Journal’s home practice segments in each monthly issue to switch things up, and to try something new.

I do attempt to travel a retreat or attend a good class as often as I can, in order to have that valuable first hand experience with a good teacher, and to interact with other students.

My long term goal where I reside is to create a wellness and yoga center for my area.

Great to have you on the forums, and I look forward to sharing and learning with you…

Warmly,

Joy

Hi Everyone,
I’m new to this forum, too. Thought I’d say ‘hi’. I’m excited to join since teaching, learning and writing about yoga is one of my biggest passions. I’ve been teaching for 4 years, but I feel like I learn how much I don’t know each day. Trained with YogaFit, but have recently become very interested in Ashtanga. Enough about me, I’ll see you around the forum.
Take Care!

Welcome Clarissa!

Thanks for the welcoming responses. I’m in Boulder – looking for vinyasa teaching jobs.

best,
m
