Hello, everyone!
My name is Gina and I’m a certified massage therapist and office manager from New Jersey. I have been doing yoga intermittently on my own for about 10 years now, though I have recently decided to join a class and I absolutely LOVE it. Among other things, reading SYT by Mukunda Stiles was one of the things that really pushed me to enter into working with a teacher rather than on my own, so I’m grateful that I had read the book and that he’d written it.
Just a comment:
I had been reading through some of the other threads and I agree that it’s sort of a plus AND a minus to have a lot of knowledge before going into a class. On the plus side, it gives one bank of information and you know a bit more about what’s going on before you step into the class environment. The challenging part is to walk in and sort of put the way that I HAD BEEN doing things on a shelf and start each session with the teacher with a “beginner’s mind” mentality. So far it’s working out fine for me.
I look forward to reading and learning and sharing what I can.
Namaste.
