Newbie- painful even in childs pose

Hi guys,

I am 24 years old, overweight and quite unfit. I am trying to lose weight and thought yoga would help me feel more centred and balanced. I got a mat today and bought a few dvd’s for beginners. The thing is, even child’s pose is challenging for me and i don’t know why. I even tried placing a towel under my seatbones, but when I try to sit the front of both ankles really really hurt :confused: Why is this? does this mean I can’t do yoga?

Roll a blanket or mat and place it across the front of the ankle joints.
What your experiencing has nothing at all to do with one being able “to do” Yoga. It is completely unrelated.
