Hi everyone.
I’ve just started Yoga which I’m really enjoying.
I have a question. I have started doing Surya Namaskar in the mornings which wakes me up nicely. However I’m not sure how long to hold each position. Suggestions please
Hold them for as long as you are comfortable. Listen to your body, let it give you the cues. Some days you may feel a need to move slowly, holding each position for longer, or some of them for longer and some for a short time, mixing it up. Another day you may feel like turning it into a Vinyasa flow, moving from one position to the next without stopping. Listen to your body. It will tell you.
Hello Shaddy,
It is the intention of the practice which determines such things.
In classical Surya Namaskar, the movement follows the half-breath. From Namaskarasana inhaling to Urdhva Hastasana, exhaling to uttanasana, etcetera.

Thanks for the advice.
I do tend to hold the positions for as long as I can depending on how much my body aches from training (Karate). Do have trouble getting the breathing correct when I work a bit faster though. I’ll keep at it.
Thanks guys
