No such thing as yoga practice

just some thoughts to throw out there

in basketball we can go to basketball practice one day and then play in a game where “it counts” and then go back and practice the next day

In yoga, yoga is life so there is no practice. There may be times that you are more focused and concentrated because you are dedicating time that has less things to stimulate and distract you.

when you sit at work, go for a walk, pick up a child, bend over to tie your shoes, those are asanas. Each breath you take, pranayama, focused on the task at hand is concentration, how you treat everyone is your morals, how you eat, how you think, etc…

if we may be more focused in our daily activities we may get ourselves in a position where we need less asana and pranayama exercises and spend more time on meditation during that time we dedicate to ourselves

just an opinion

hubert, it is early in the day and I have already learned a new word to some extent, do you always have to make me think?
it is nice in that quiet time devoted to myself and more detached from the world, today’s morning “practice” was a very blessed one, but now I am in the rest of the game so we will see how the day goes
take care

Sorry for the bad lettering. It is “sacrilege”. I must have americanized it. I’d better stop making jokes.

I found the word that you originally intended and that is a word I did not know. I like your jokes hubert so please do not stop. I think the meaning you got from my other post was about the opposite of how I meant it
have a good day my friend
and please do tell another joke

For me yoga is. Like patanjalie says, Now yoga is. That is my interpretation of the first sutra.

We don’t practice yoga… ever. Yoga is like the scent of a flower that leads us toward our own opening. For me you can try to listen to the yoga, the path or you can go against it. Asana is for the body and mind, pranayama for the breathing, dharana for the concentration etc… all of them are used to be able to understand what is yoga but is not yoga.

But on a lighter level, if we take yoga as a practice, yes if we could meditate at every time, breath and be aware of everything, we would need less time on the mat. Yet I like to strech when comming out of bed  I like to chant before meditating, and if everyday life bring most of my needed practice I like to set aside some time to do a little ritual to honor life and beauty.

On really interesting practice I find to be able to bring yoga in everyday life is Karma Yoga. Selfless service, that can be applied to any action (to my understanding and to my practice). So anywork becomes yoga and self study…

Thanks for the original qustion!

Hi Damaru,

thank you for an inspiring reply, it made my day and reminded me of somethings again. thank you.

Indeed dlife is yoga. Practising asanas is like playing and learning in the sandbox.
Once grown up yoga should be integrated to all we are doing.

Hi,
I think pranayama, Aasana and meditation are tools which are used to achieve the objective of yoga… If we have understood the objective… i think we could reduce the use of the tools…

Just my opinion
