Nothing

To do nothing at all is the most difficult thing in the world, the most difficult and the most intellectual
– Oscar Wild

One creates from nothing. If you try to create from something you’re just changing something. So in order to create something you first have to be able to create nothing.
– Werner Erhard

Nothing can be created out of nothing."
– Lucretius

"But, if you have nothing at all to create, then perhaps you create yourself.
– Carl Jung

When nothing is done, nothing is left undone
—Tao Teh Ching

Meditation hasn’t got a damn thing to do with anything, 'cause all it has to do with is nothing. Nothingness. Okay? It doesn’t develop the mind, it dissolves the mind. Self-improvement? Forget it, baby. It erases the self. Throws the ego out on its big brittle ass. What good is it? Good for nothing. Excellent for nothing. Yes, Lord, but when you get down to nothing, you get down to ultimate reality. It’s then and exactly then that you’re sensing the true nature of the universe, you’re linked up with the absolute Absolute, son, and unless you’re content with blowing smoke up your butt all your life, that there’s the only place to be.
—Bobby Case

To do nothing is also a good remedy.
—Hippocrates

The only true wisdom is in knowing you know nothing.
—Socrates

I love talking about nothing. It is the only thing I know anything about.
– Oscar Wilde

I remember an analogy by which to “define God.”

Take an apple. Cut it. Take a seed . Cut it. What is in the seed ? Nothing. From that “nothing” the whole apple tree grew.

Good quotes; born out of nothing less than lifetime(s) of these great souls.

For us, experience of nothingness begins with small things when you walk the path.

When nothing is needed to make us walk and it becomes self-propelled.

When nothing is heard consciously in the midst of cacophony.

When nothing is seen consciously with eyes wide open.

When nothing remains solid, but in that fluidity nothing gets washed away.

When nothing is retained - greed, anger, praise, desire.

When you experience yourself as nothing; to become uncommonly common.

When nothing is thought and still you watch senses rise and fall.

When joy erupts from nothing.

When in the quest for the absolute nothingness, nothing above is overlooked.

Lots of contradictions and equivocations flying around here.

Take an apple. Cut it. Take a seed . Cut it. What is in the seed ? Nothing. From that “nothing” the whole apple tree grew.

Nope, it may appear like you have nothing, but within that seed are very minute particles. Those particles contain even more minute atoms. They contain even more minute subatomic particles. They contain even more minute quarks. And so on. There is always something.

Nothing does not inspire me. Nothing is Nothing. Only nothing comes from nothing. If I do nothing then nothing will get done.

Btw OP, I thought you were leaving

Nothing to me is like a Zen koan. In order to appreciate nothing, I find I love everything and am amazed at there even being any existence. How and why does anything exist? I think when you let go of everything, the nothing that is here, is shared between everyone, no matter how good a poet or deep thinker, sinner or saint. We have nothing in common with everyone, past, present, future, so to speak.
