Observation on Exhale

Hi, all! I read the chapter on Breathing in a book called “Yoga Anatomy” by Leslie Kaminoff, and found the description of the diaphram to be amazingly informative. So I started “looking” anew at how I breathe, paying attention more to sensations that come from within my rib cage rather than behind my belly skin. (I was told that you breathe into your belly by choir instructors decades ago, and hadn’t questioned it too much.)

I notice that, not only does an exhale end a lot higher than I thought previously, but I have more exhale than I’ve been making use of. In fact, recently and almost instantaneously my energy level has improved when I allow my exhale to continue for as long and to end as high as it wants to.

Have a great day!!!

Yea! Its great right? Your lungs actually go from just below your rib cage all the way up to just above your clavicle. That is a lot of space. By breathing with your diaphragm you are actively pushing air out of your body which in turn allows for a greater passive inhale. Enjoy the good breath!
