Only class available

i live in a really small town, there is no yoga studio. but there is a woman who has started leading an ashtanga class in a gallery space. I have been attending regularly and really loving it- most of the time. occasionally i feel like the sessions get out of her control and once she repeatedly dropped this man, who was a regular practitioner, in town visiting. she tipped him over twice and dropped him once nearly falling on top of him. i was scared stiff for the next couple of days and i mentioned it to a friend of mine that i was not really feeling safe all the time… i am very flexible- but not very strong- sometimes she pushes me to do things that i’m not certain i am capable of. my friend mentioned to me that she is not a certified instructor. i want to continue to grow in my practice, but it seems against my better judgement to continue to pay her what i would travel to the next town to pay a certified teacher in a proper studio, while she is terrifying me.

can someone please advise?

Thank you.

If it’s against your better judgment, then intuition has already given you your answer

What David said. Your answer is in your question.

What exactly do you mean when you say she dropped him???

And where do you live? Perhaps someone can recommend another teacher.

Trust in a yoga class is imperative. It should be provided and held by the teacher and felt by the student.

Teachers of yoga should be properly trained to impart the practice. Whether that person is “certified” or not has to be discussed further as there are few true certifying bodies in the field of teaching yoga.

The fee structure of said class pales in comparison to the issue of safety and trust.

She is terrifying you? :o Run!

I shy from these non-certified folks as much as non/registered but licensed massage parlours.

I’m sure they are very experienced but I won’t be caught in one.

That was amazing post1 Yoga is really helps to lose your weight

Just do not do anything with her that requires “catching”

I would still go and lean everything you can. just apply your brain and listen to your body - you wont get hurt
