Ovulation

Could you please explain me why women are advised against doing yoga on their ovulation day ? I feel my ovulation every month very clearly and wonder why it would do any harm?

Thanks!
Mary

The recommendation is due to the increase in apana prana when you ovulate. This prana is promoting the release of waste products out and down from the pelvis. Asanas in general increase udana and adya prana which are pranas that increase receptivity and nourishing qualities. Thus they are opposite forces. The harm may not be physical though in some cases endometriosis is suspected to come from inverted yogasanas. By doing yoga so that it benefits the prana one is more likely to begin to experience mediation and spiritual inclinations as the natural outcome.
