Pelvic Floor Pain

Hi everyone,

I suffer from extreme tightness and muscle spasm deep in my pelvic floor area (perinium), which causes a whole host of problems related with normal functions of the particulars down there, as well as constant discomfort and tension. What I suffer from is a vague syndrome known as Chronic Pelvic Pain Syndrome, it’s only just starting to be acknowledged by the medical community and diagnosis/treatment is very hard to get.

I need poses that will help me stretch out the pelvic floor muscles. Emphasis on the stretch. I do not want exercises that will strengthen the pelvic floor area. These muscles are spasming almost constantly and attempting to strengthen them in this state will only exacerbate the problem.

Too long; Didn’t read? - Please suggest exercises that will stretch the pelvic floor muscles out (not strengthen).

Thanks

Not in sequence, per se…

Vanarasana
Supta Padangusthasana
Baddha Konasana with back against a wall
Baddha Konasana with back on the floor, legs on the wall.
Baddha Konasana with a brick between the feet (in the first position not the second)
Supta Baddha Konasana
Supta Janu Padasthilasana
Janu Sirsasana
Hanumanasana Prep
Uppavista Konasana
Prasarita Padotanasana

The Asanas listed by Yoga Guru Gordon are perfect for healthy pelvic floor muscle. These great Asanas can be a better alternate to other Pelvic floor exercises. Some simple Asanas like Padmasana, Vajrasana and Gorakshasana are of great help for UT problems.

Agree with Inner Athlete.

Don’t know name of pose but I call it Squashed Frog (don’t ask) it’s like Supta Baddha Konasana except you lie on your front.
