I would love to take a photo of myself for my facebook profile picture in a yoga pose. I have been practicing ashtanga yoga 4 times a week since july this year so i am a beginner. I still want to impress. Any suggestions? Namaste.
Hi Korinna, I’m at risk of being acused of drawing attention to my very basic facebook page, which in a way I am, but also I’m letting you know that you should just go ahead and take and post photos if you want to for fun, they don’t have to be works of art. But I’d also like to ask ( if anyone should read this, and also knows the answer ) what are orbs in photos, are they ghosts? I have one in the picture on www.facebook.com/bluetriangleyoga on my wall photo ( I put the weekly asana for my classes on there ) it’s on my right thigh. Any ideas sceptical or nonsceptical would be welcome. P.S. Happy Halloween!
I don’t have any pose suggestions but I did see a breathtaking photo of a gal doing yoga last week - the photographer positioned her so that there was a sunflare around her. It’s fairly popular in photography right now so perhaps your photographer could do something like that. Also, if you’re near a beach, that always makes a lovely backdrop.
I think if you just go into the session with a playful mind, you’ll have many options to choose from.
Ruth:
Orbs are usually dust, the reflection of light off dust, the reflection of light refracting through multiple aspects of the lens, light reflection of an external object onto the lens angle, oil on the lens reflecting light, dust inside the camera, or perhabs, maybe, a ghost. That one in particular looks like a tiny pice of dust reflecting in the flash. You’ll often find more orbs in flash-generated light.
Hi Suryadaya. What a shame, I’ll just have to pose as a ghost on Halloween instead! ( i think I’ve been watching too many ghost hunting programmes )!
A yoga pose for your profile picture is a beautiful idea, especially since it reflects your journey in Ashtanga yoga. Poses like Warrior II or Tree Pose can look both elegant and accessible for a beginner, while highlighting your practice. For a professional touch, you could use a local photographer and consider printing the photo through services known for quality, like those praised in millers lab customer service reviews. They’re known for delivering great results with attention to detail. Capturing the right angle and lighting will make your pose stand out and truly showcase your dedication to yoga.
