Hello all. I?m new to Yoga and meditation. I wanted to use it relax after work. After a 30 minute yoga session yesterday I was meditating and it was amazing. Then…I saw flash images and seemed to be a face although I could see who it was. There was a burning eye in their forehead and I heard someone say my name and broke abruptly out of meditation. It was shocking and scary. I asked my roommates if anyone yelled in my room at the door. No one was around and no one called me. Is this a bad sign, Am I not ready? Now I’m scared to meditate. Is this a figment of my imagination??
:o
I have never had this sort of experience.
I have had the sensation of what I think was kundalini awakening.
I have sent and received love through my third eye with another person.
What sort of meditation are you following, if it is not too personal a question?
You are obviously having an awakening of some sort.
I am told that it is best not to pay too much attention to visions, either postive or negative, but to continue on with your meditation, but why not discuss it here?
Do you have a meditation teacher? Perhaps you could discuss it with them also.
Dear kidgetup4,
I see this is your first post. We are often grateful when others join the community and do so by participating rather than by lurking. Being in a dialogue is quite a bit different than sitting to the side of it, watching. Though both may have a set of merits.
Like many first time posters, you simply haven’t given us enough information to advise you with any sense. It is much like having a voice speak to you and say “my knee hurts. Should I have it replaced?”. We do not know if you are 20 or 70. We do not know what sort of meditation you are doing. We do not know where you are learning this meditation. We do not know your physical and mental health. We do not know, period.
Paint us a verbal picture of your self and your situation. Then we can give you some pointed feedback likely to help. Otherwise you’re likely to get a bevy of stories that while interesting may have nothing to do with what you are asking.
While it is not my place to interpret what your experience was, I would like to promise you that it was not a bad sign. Meditation can definitely bring about things that scare us, but it’s not a bad sign, it’s just a sign.
Allow me to share a series of meditation experiences I had, with you:
At one point in my meditation practice, I experienced something that I can describe as nothing more than a dark veil of fear. The first time I experienced it, I completely freaked out and didn’t meditate again for months. Slowly but surely I started to meditate again. Every few meditation sessions I would feel the veil of fear come over me and I’d get scared. But each time, I was able to go a little deeper into that fear before my mind freaked out.
One night I began to meditate and decided that I was going to go through the fear, even if it killed me. Sure enough, the darkness presented itself but I sat with it, I felt it with never before experienced intensity, and suddenly the revelation of what that fear was presented itself to me with utmost clarity. What was on the other side of that dark veil of fear was what I can only describe as bliss.
Was I not ready that first time I experienced the veil of darkness? I was, otherwise I wouldn’t have experienced it.
