Post by: Asuri - Thread: Samkhya-Yoga

Techne has reported a post.

Reason:

I’m not actually reporting Asuri – did we change the title of a thread in the Marketplace?

This thread was originally intended to be just a plug for my website, but it seems that someone edited the title. I have answered your question in a new thread.

Yes, Nichole changed it. Here’s a little trick for you Techne, if you pull down the Thread Tools and click on Edit, you will be able to scroll down and see who edited the thread and how it was edited.

yes, i changed it b/c it said in the title “shameless plugs.” i removed that part of it b/c that forum is intended as a marketplace–they are all plugs, every last one.

his whole thread should be pulled as it is directing traffic our traffic to his website, not simply offering his services for products or classes. he is lucky it is still up.

i will contact him.

Christopher,
Thank you for starting a new discussion thread for the questions on enlightenment. I appreciate your help in keep things in order here.

As you noticed, the words, “shameless plug” were removed from your thread for SEO reasons and because it is in the Marketplace forum, where “shameless plugs” are encouraged; in fact, there are only plugs in there and that is by design. With all the other edits that happen on the forum, in the threads or individual posts, there is always an edit tag; this is true for edits done by admins, moderators and members alike. Titles are the only thing (to my knowledge) that don’t get edit tags.

So that you know, we are running a bare bones operation here of 3 only volunteers: me, Techne and Alix, so we are not going to contact a member when we need to change titles for misspellings, non-specific titling, or when removing something like “shameless plug.” The rest of the edits, will nearly always come with a message to the author.

Best,
Nichole

Nichole,

Thank you for taking the time to communicate this. I had a specific audience in mind when I named the thread “shameless plugs”. Not all plugs are shameless. Some are deceitful and thinly disguised plugs. But I’m sure the thread is more likely to turn up in a search with the title as is, so I don’t have a problem with it.
