Post by: Quetzalcoatl - Thread: Hands and arms in Shavasana

Alix has reported a post.

Reason:

I’d been watching this one for a while figuring he was a spammer or SOMETHING. I’m deleting this post, but do you think we ought to leave this thread up?

I can link now! Buy /|46R4 online!!!1!

Found an interesting page about Kundalini and Qi, maybe others are interested too:

http://www.eecs.berkeley.edu/~keutzer/kundalini/kundalini-faq.html

I, though, must go now.

i am quite certain he was joking about the buy now thing. was this what concerned you?

i was late joining, but i am following the thread now. his link is pertinent to the direction the thread took. it is a fact link, not a product link.

since it was his thread, and it had gotten well underway and off-topic by the time i saw it, i thought to just leave it as is.

i think his, “i…must go now” was b/c there was a swift conversational exchange happening and he did log off.

my only concern with the thread is my ongoing concern, and pandara’s too, that this is a yoga forum, but new members continue to discuss and contribute off the topic of yoga. people who do not practice yoga regularly or teach yoga continue to give therapeutic recommendations.

i’ll keep a watch on the this member, but so far he seems pretty engaged and ok to me. i may be missing something. what is that “something” about him that is tickling your unparalleled moderation sense?

I don’t know what it is Nichole, maybe its just something about him and I’m personalizing this. If you think that link is OK, then I will return that post.

In analyzing this, I think perhaps this poster’s ego is bothering me. He asks for help, but disregards much of what he is given and is not very polite in thanking folks for their time in contributing to his thread.

I’ve let the thread wander with regard to topic because honestly, I think evolution in threads is usually beneficial.

I certainly appreciate the concern you have about folks offering advice if they do not have a firm foundation. Thats a worry for me as well. Unfortunately Nichole, my own practice is still in its infancy (IMO) and I don’t feel qualified to judge the comments of others. I would certainly appreciate your input on the posters and their levels of competency.

The site is evolving and without some clear guidance from the Mod team it will just go as it will. You are too busy, as am I, to do much about this. Hopefully David will come back and be the guiding force that is needed. I reiterate, I am only here until someone else can take over.

I saw nothing wrong with the thread and that link was to berkeley.edu  If his ego bothers you, mine must absolutely drive you nuts. Hahah

I’m here but I choose to guide by not guiding much as I WANT it to “just go as it will” – Although I am slowly planning some subforum additions/changes.

I’ve taken over. If you no longer desire to be on the mod team, please let me know.

I hear you, my dear friend! I think I see what you are referring to, but there has been some usefully exchange between he and Gordon too. He tried to give a little back talk and Gordon rose to it. I hope he sticks around and gets some polish from our other members. If our core members connect to someone new, and they can dig in a bit together, I’ve seen some deep Yoga being practiced here and real change coming out it.

i was typing my post while david posted his. my response to yours, alix.

i just revisited the thread: four topics in one! the op knows about forum etiquette, so we could ask him to do what he can to stay on-topic or to create off-shoots threads when he wants to explore new topics.

David, I’m glad you are back, your absence is noted and felt by the members. I suspected you wanted the forum to go as it will which was why I have left things basically alone. It is my belief that you wish the Mods to do only the basic policing and so that is what I’ve done.

Nichole indicated that someone needed to have Admin controls as she was here only rarely and there were things that needed attention in her absence. I agreed to take those controls til someone else could be present. If you’re here regularly David, then by all means remove my Admin tools. I’m quite happy to return to the regular membership. Do you still need me to Moderate? I came back because Nichole needed help. If I leave there will only be you David, and Nichole sporadically. I think the forum is generally quiet enough for that to be manageable but you will likely need someone as back up for the times you are away. I think you have a number of new members who are here regularly enough to be excellent moderators.

Hiya Alix,

Let me first state that I hope my last post didn’t come across as mean or short as it was not intended.

You’re correct that I think we should only do very basic policing here. If it was possible, nobody would be in charge here. Maybe I have a bit of a love for anarchy huh? Hahah.

Your assistance has been greatly appreciated, thank you

I’ve been pondering this forum as of late. One thing I’ve realized is that I have a desire to shape it a little more going forward. That doesn’t mean heavy moderation, but more of a restructuring. While I plan to discuss the restructuring with members and get their input, it’ll no doubt bother a few and make others much more comfortable. The goal is to make the forum more enjoyable for a larger majority of yogis over the long term while keeping in mind that I can’t make anyone happy.

Anyway, I agree that the forum is quiet enough that it can be handled by a sparse moderation staff. As you’re happy to return as a regular member, I’ll do that. Thank you very much for your help!
