“There is power in our thoughts. We create our own surroundings by the thoughts we think. Physically, this may take a period of time, but spiritually it is instantaneous. If we understood the power of our thoughts, we would guard them more closely. If we understood the awesome power of our words, we would prefer silence to almost anything negative. In our thoughts and words we create our own weaknesses and our own strengths. Our limitations and joys begin in our hearts.” – Betty J. Eadie
Perfect timing. Thank you.
Can’t you print flyers with this quote on it and distribute this all over the world?
Thanks, it underlined my own belief again.
I read somewhere (Slovenian source) that we create our destiny mostly with our thoughts. They have very high vibrations and are extremly flexible. We build our inner portrait with our thoughts, just like a building where we want to live. Each thought symbolize new, additional brick. What troubles us mostly is the harmful programs in our subconsciousness. Therefore it is important that even if we consciously refuse something, we keep inner peace knowing that everything is happening as it is supposed to. We are all participants in a situations that we need. This attitude help us first to accept everything unconditionally, than we are able to make changes. Our subconsciousness is connected with the Universe and it extends in infinity and consciousness connects us with our environment, our external world. Therefore it is more harmful if we are agressive in our suconsciousness beacuse we spread it on everything what exist. In our subconsciousness we have to act always with love and unconditional acceptance and see in everybody first pure, loving being. We don’t have to agree always on the outside but inside we accept everybody without the exception unconditionally with love. We could even say that when we don’t accept the situation on the outside, that can be a progress because it forces us to act and change something. On the other hand the inner unacceptance of the situation means disturbance of the Universal order. That reflects with the unpleasant situations or illness. For example somebody that has subconsciously the agression towards the thiefs is maybe more often robbed etc.
Nichole you often quoted Pema Chodron. Because I liked her thoughts I bought a small pocket book written by her. This is from “Awakening loving-kindness”.
"There isn’t any hell or heaven except for how we relate to our world. Hell is just resistance to life.
In the way we practice, we don’t say “Hell is bad and heaven is good” or “Get rid of the hell and just seek heaven” but we encourage ourselves to develop an open heart and open mind to heaven, to hell, to everything. Why? Because only then can we realize that no matter what comes along, we are standing at the center of the world in the middle of sacred space, and everything that comes into that circle and exists with us there has come to teach us what we need to know.
Life’s work is to wake up, to let the things that enter into the circle wake you up rather than put you to sleep. The only way to do this is to open, be curious, and develop some sense of sympathy for everything that comes along, to get to know its nature and let it teach you what it will. It’s going to stick around until you learn your lesson, at any rate. You can leave your marriage, you can quit your job, you can only go where people are going to praise you, you can manipulate your world until you’re blue in the face to try to make it always smooth, but the same old demons will always come up until finally you have learned your lesson, the lesson they came to teach you. Then those same demons will appear as friendly, warmhearted companions on the path.
Maybe nothing new but I thing those principles can be or should be repeated anytime
Thanks, Nichole, I like this quote, I so agree about the words we use & its power.
Also a good quote:

The nature of subconscious, as the term says, is not conscious. Therefore we cannot consciously act from the subconscious. We act, but without consciously knowing the reason for our action. The subconscious is where the samskaras and vasanas manifest themselves as urges, and we act on the impulse of these, without realizing their real cause.
I agree with everything what you’ve said, just felt important to point out that we cannot expect from anyone to instantly change their subconscious, and act always with love, as what it contains is not directly accessible, but through it’s effects. Expecting from us to love and accept unconditionally, is like expecting us to walk on the water. Of course, we can act like we are acting from unconditional love, we can do that so good that often we believe it too. It is dangerous, because we deny the fact that we are really not like that, we are selfish, attached, and suffering of various imperfections; usually we try to create an environment where we do not face this reality, we try to ward off painful experiences what might appear by changing our environment, instead of trying to know ourselves.
It is good to keep in mind this grand aim, to become able to love and accept everything unconditionally, but not as a requirement but as an aspiration. We must recognize that this is not a reality for the most of us, and fate will find the way to make us face our imperfections. It is too easy to think or beleive we are good, until we are tested. In order to know ourselves, it is required that we seek out opportunities to know ourselves, because this way we still retain a little control on the circumstances, unlike when fate throws them in our face suddenly, especially when we have tried everything to avoid them, as we felt that this meeting will be unpleasant. So a good amount of courage is required, and a strong footing in that center you have spoken of.
For me the most free moments are when I succeed in forgetting myself alltogheter. For that to happen, I need to see my failure in everything I want or desire, and depressed and sad, I have to surrender to the present, to some small thing what needs to be done, without too much effort and attention; a walk, a little dish-washing, just being without drama, dogma, practice, and thought.
For me, the lesson is that I am idealistic and naive, and because of that, I try to be better than I really am, out of the fear to face my demons. This, until fate corners me, and there is nothing “good” left for me to pretend: I have to act and do the lesser evil. A great temptationlies in trying to be good, or better. We do not need to be good, we need to be ourselves, and if that’s bad, than that is what we have to work with, without denial. It is easier to give up a bad ego, than a “good” one.
In fact we should doubt the existance of a good ego.
Hi Hubert,
Correct me if I’m wrong but I think we mean same way but maybe I was not clear enough and thank you to show me that!
What I meant about unconditional acceptance of everything? Not to idealize ourselves about how good we can be & and create a new addiction. What I mean is that we should not resist or judge the situations, environment and people being in our lives. Because as it is outside so it is inside. If we are experiencing the aggression from the outside means we are keeping an aggression on the inside sometimes without being aware of. Therefore we get a chance to look into it and transform it or on the other hand we can make the aggression even stronger.
But it is not necessary to learn only through unpleasant situations or pain. If we are willing and focus and direct ourselves right, we can learn differently. As you say we should be awake enough to learn more about ourselves. If we know our thoughts we can consciously build up the character we want to be.
The basic Universal law is acceptance of everything with the unconditional love. And we are responsible for our thoughts and acts. We indeed determined our abilities with our acts in the past. But we have a freedom of choice how our next harvest will be. Funny that because of our free will we created our limitations. Our past keeps us caught in the present. Negative patterns creates prejudices in us so we create our own walls and limitations. It takes time for changes. In this certain moment we have insight in only those subconscious patterns that we are ready for and that are useful for us. For the rest is maybe not the time yet. How big part of our sub consciousness we put in our consciousness depends on our developmental level. Some yogis have for example the entire view of their sub consciousness. The point of the amnesia is that we can focus on this life and everything that comes on our way. This is always that what we need. How others behave towards us tells us a lot of our inside. For example somebody that is not satisfied with the partner. For a while this stays on the emotional and mental level and is still controllable. But after a while this dissatisfaction moves on a deeper level in sub consciousness and it transforms into a sub conscious aggressiveness toward the partner. Partner is constantly attacked on the invisible energy level and therefore he consciously response with the aggression. From our human/ earth perspective we don’t have a complete overview on the situations. Therefore we have no right to judge no matter what somebody did. We don’t have to agree with an act but in our inside we accept him/her as a pure soul. It is useful to accept all the life’s challenges. We save a lot of energy that we would otherwise use to resist. With the strong will and right focus the good in us win. That is benefit for us and the entire Universe. It is important that we do what we can. We ourselves created our limitations so we can also ourselves remove them.
Cheers
Oh I just love Betty J. Eadie. I read her book “Embraced by the Light” just after I graduated high school - circa 1994. It was a REAL eye-opener for me. I simply loved it - makes me want to pick it up again and see what I would think of it now … after all of these years and new experiences!
