well… considering contemporary scientific facts that all matter is ultimately an energy…
“Today, a young man on acid realized that all matter is merely energy condensed to a slow vibration?that we are all one consciousness experiencing itself subjectively. There is no such thing as death, life is only a dream, and we’re the imagination of ourselves. Here’s Tom with the weather.” ~ Bill Hicks
Prakriti undergoes transformations.
Purusha doesn’t.
The purushas are many, not just one disguised as the multiplicity.
What a cruel joke that would be. The controlers are not in the buisness of cruel jokes. Put yourself in God’s shoes - just for a second and think, now why in the hell would I do that. Cloack myself in maya and pretend I am the many, or make the many and put them through a system that creates infinite varitety.
Derp.
Yeah, but purusha or self, consciousness is not matter. All energy is matter is correct, but consciousness is not energy.
Purusha and Prakriti are completely ontologically distinct and irreducible to one another.
Purusha:
Self
Consciousness
Observer
Knower
Unchanging
Prakriti
Not-self
Matter
Observed
Inert
changing
The same problem of matter-consciousness dualism appears in modern philosophy of mind: the hard problem of consciousness. Consciousness simply cannot be reduced to matter. There is no reason that any kind of material configuration could ever produce consciousness. It is logically impossible.
However, in Advaita there is no problem of reducing matter to consciousness. Whatever we call matter is what we perceive within consciousness. We perceive within consciousness all kinds of matter: Physical hard matter; Energetic soft matter, mental, subtle matter like mind, ego, intellect. It is all just one continuum of matter but for practical reasons we divide up the matter into categories like space, time, species, physical, mental, organic, inorganic. In other words we divide up one field of consciousness into innumerable entities. If we did not do this, we would not even have anything called ‘matter’
I mean come on, have you ever really investigated into this thing we all take for granted as “matter”? Do it and you will be surprised by really how non-existent it is.
thank u SD, good point… it doesnt seem that cons. is a matter…but it is also hard to prove that purusas are not energy…
quite a thought comes that energy-matter produce consciousnesses/self…
but it is also hard to prove that purusas are not energy…
In fact pretty easy to move. Purusha, consciousness is what is aware of energy. I cannot be what I am aware of, there is a distinct between me and the object of my awareness. Like I am not the clothes that I am wearing, the clothes are the objection of my awareness, hence why I say “my clothes”

Oh? I’d consider most contemporary scientific facts as theory, wastes of time, and sometimes dangerous.
Big Bang? Huge Theory, and one that has spread across the lands - and it’s wrong.
Evolution? As in Darwinian? No. Not even close. another fancy fallacy thats taken the world by storm.
All matter is ultimately an energy? Nah. Matter is matter. Once the human body can no longer sustain life the spirit vacates and the body turns to dust and eventually dissappears all together.
This vanishing act of the body; just disappearing as it were - does it fit the "scientific facts? " Clearly its a contradiction and therefore me must reject such a blanket statement as “all matter is ultimately an energy.”

I’m not certain if “purusha” would be aware of anything in the phenomenal world without the aid of it’s instruments.
Curious.

well…you are right talking about theory, darvin, evolution, big bang , those are mere theories. nuclear reactor is not a theory, and its uses one atom of uranium to supply electric energy to the city like LA. it is fact. It is practice for decades. Just like an atom of uranium, the atom of anything can be converted into the energy. any energy. wave, electricity, kinetics, chemical, thermal, sound, electromagnetic etc. One can not deny it…it is fact. not the theory.
body does not disappear as well. speaking on Hindu terms here. Shiva, the transformer, the energy that transforms the body into something else: food for the worms, plants, thermal energy, etc.
spirit is not the matter. i MIGHT be an energy. i donno, and there is no facts. but looks like all matter is energy.
For a moment, how about being aware of limits of articulation? It is easy to discuss ‘purusha’ as a buddy next door or apple pie in the store. Nothing is true unless experienced. And non-duality cannot even be experienced.
Written Hindu philosophy has pages after pages of the individual signatures on HIS/HER version. However, when one embarks on a spiritual path one quickly realizes how much is not known. That enormity makes one humble and starved for more experiences. Slowly, one witnesses the collapse of the pillars of earlier existence - that you are the center of the universe, that you know what needs to be known, that you drive your life, that my truth is THE truth and so on. Collapse of these foundations makes most people stall on the path or give up. The rest move on.
They get a glimpse of Purusha, the underlying energy that brings matter to life. What an odd couple they make, force of repulsion when together (the material view of the world), force of gravity when separated (the spiritual view of the world). Knowing purusha, the pure energy alone is an end and hence, in the end. One out of a trillion does it.
We are naturally enthralled by the intelligence of brilliant words and scholarly quotes and that definitely has place in our material life. But for a moment we can also meditate on the brevity and even silence of the enlightened. So that our next step could take us closer to Purusha’s proxy, Ishvara within. Joy of Ishvara’s presence is really beyond words. Then no second-hand guessing is needed.
