Hi there,
I?m brand new to the forum. Have studied yoga for years in the past and have started up again in the past several months. I have put in many years doing meditation too. Probably a couple of decades, altogether. Most of that has been in the Zen tradition. However, now that I?m getting so deeply into yoga (I?m currently practicing about five times per week) I think I?d rather explore meditation from the yoga tradition for awhile. I am especially interested in pranayama.
Some of the books that I?ve come up with from a search on Amazon include:
Spinal Breathing Pranayama: Journey to Inner Space (AYP Enlightenment series)
A Chakra and Kunalini Workbook: Psycho-Spiritual Techniques? (John Mumford)
Kundalini Rising: Exploring the Energy of Awakening (Gurucharan Singh Khalsa)
Kundalini Awakening: A Gentle Guide to Chakra Activation and Spiritual Growth (John Selby)
I should mention that I?ve seen the other posts here (like the current ?Kundalini newbie? thread) about getting started in this practice. And I?m already well aware of the debate about the wisdom of studying it without an instructor. I?m not interested in rehashing that debate here. I am comfortable with buying some books and doing some exploratory work in this area on my own. If I feel that I need professional guidance at some point, then I?ll seek it out. For right now, I?m just interested in some recommended reading.
Does anybody have any familiarity with any of the books in the list above? Would there be others that you would recommend instead?
Thank you for your help!
Brad
