Pranayama yoga, shakti/kundalini?

Does pranayama yoga awaken and rouse the dormant shakti kundalini energy? And does it rouse it rapidly, so it ascends to the head?

I was reading that this was so.

George,

Kundalini does not move on its own and is alone without direction (shakti). You have to do both: move and direct it. Pranayama makes that possible, but does not make it happen by itself.

Chance in a million it gets going at all, and if then, it’s as slow a molasses in winter. It’s a hell of a lot of work. And yet, give it 10 to 15 years steady, the right kind of work and a little luck, and it becomes more and more possible: that molasses begins to move like a glacier and that is plenty fast enough.

Just work and don’t pursue.

One of my favorite quotes on kundalini goes something like, “if you want to awaken the kundalini then feed someone.” That was from Mark Whitwell quoting… Krishnamacharya maybe?

Don’t be in such a hurry to move prana to the head. This is an aspect that always worries me about kundalini yoga. Perhaps for now try to gather prana to your center near konda, as well as in your heart. The actual points are trikona and hritpadma. When the energy in these store houses increase the excess will flow naturally to the more sensitive parts of the system.
