How many sessions or weeks/months/years of pranayama yoga did it take before you began to notice benefits and new abilities?
From experience the effects of pranayama are instantaneous, your experience is different?
I’m a newbie, i’m debating on whether to take pranayama yoga classes. What instantaneous effects can I expect?
For me effect was instant and the rest of the class had similar views on it. I remember it as yesterday I said this is 10 times better than asana. That is how it felt at that moment.
Both however is good and complement each other.
How I felt probably differs from what you will feel so I cant describe how you will feel or if you will benefit from it. It’s not sure you will get the same effect as I did. If you already have good breathing its possible there will be no effect at all.

Their is equalized breath. Meaning equal gas exchange at the body’s appointed time. Meaning you inhail,exhail,natural pause then repeat. Watch a sleeping dog breath, he may go through the breathing sequence slightly faster but you will understand. That is natural breathing.
Anything else is hyper or hypo ventilation.
Yes in breathing the breath does in fact dominate one nostril.
Hypo ventilation stimulates acid creation in the body.
hyper stimulates alkilinity.
