Preparing for pregnancy

in the next few years me and my husband are hoping to get pregnant. not right now but at some point in the next few years. i think the best way for me to prepare for such a huge change in ones life and body is to purify ones life and strengthen ones body, im already cutting out alcohol and cigarettes and cooking more organic food.

so i think yoga is an excellent accompaniment to all of this. what i want to know is what form of yoga is best for me.

the two main things i want to achieve with yoga- aside from the spiritual aspects, is flexibility (i currently have quite tight hamstrings but a strangely flexible back and want to be able to use my body more fluidly and with more flexibility) and strengthening my pelvic floor so carrying and giving birth will be an easier experience and i wont be loose and saggy there afterwards and end up resenting the baby. (naughty but true)

im currently dithering between astanga and iyengar but if you think another form of yoga would be more suitable for me then please do recomend.

the best thing to do is to try out a variety of classes and instructors before committing to anything. you may also want to invesigate a power- type class and a restorative-type class, especially the latter for flexibility.
