Problems with ankles and cobbler pose

Hello,
I am able to sit in the cobbler pose position, however I am unable to open my feet like a book.
I seem to have zero flezibility in my ankles and therefore can not open my feet at all.

Are there any exercises I can do to correct this problem.

Thank you

Hi,
It is not necessary to open the feet like a book…having the soles of the feet together will still stretch the inner thighs and open the hips.
The normal range of flexibility of ankles allows for walking, running, cycling and squatting. Over stretching the ankles could lead to problems later in life…ankles need to be strong and stable for walking etc.

The only stretching for ankles would be squatting and some stretching of the lower calf and back of the ankle to give a full normal range of movement.

cooker, it is not a problem… opening feet is just another variation if you wish… as long as your feet are together and your back is straight - you are good to go! more important is to put the blanket under your butt and maybe a towel inside the knees to facilitate better alignment

Thank you for your replies,
You have resolved my concerns.

Best wishes
