Protein shakes for female yogis?

I’ve been looking into various options to help with muscle recovery/soreness post yoga, I practice Ashtanga about 5 times a week, since March and the day after, I am always very sore. Hoping to find something to speed up the recovery process that is convenient to take on the go. I am a female, in late 20s and am afraid of bulking up with protein shakes. Some people have told me about Bromelain for muscle recovery. Anyone here with similar situation with anything to recommend? Any females here taking protein shakes with good experiences? If so, any one brand of protein shake to recommend?

I would be more interested to find out why you are still sore from the Primary Series after eight months of practice at 5 times per week?

I am currently practicing full primary up till middle of second series per session as my teacher prescribed.

Indeed. And therefore using the same muscles day in and day out. In which case soreness lasting about three days when going from sedentary to active would not be unusual. Or soreness as a result of accessing unused or less used muscles. But to have ongoing soreness using the same asana practice for eight months with regularity seems a bit odd.

For example if I have never been hiking, or I’ve had a layoff from hiking AND am not using those particular muscles, then to go hiking would likely result in a few days of soreness. However hiking twice a week for six months it would be unlikely to have said soreness unless I was doing something “different” in my hiking - hiking backward, or on my heels, or toe mounds.

So I’m wondering why you’re still sore from basically doing the same thing over and over again. Have I missed something here?
