Pushing a Blog:::Jump back and jump through

I’ve just started a blog devoted entirely to the jump back and jump through. I’m getting there but still struggling. My hope is that people will come with advice and suggestions and that this will benefit not just me but anyone else finding it difficult. Here’s the link
Ashtanga Jump back

I know many will say that the jump back isn’t essential but I’ve found so much benefit from working on it that i really feel it’s worth the effort. For example I’ve gained a much better understanding of Uddiyana bandah, of shifting my body weight, my sense of balance. I’ve gained strength but also the awareness that the jump back isn’t all about arm or even core strength. i feel that the time i’ve spent focusing on this is helping me in almost every other asana in the ashtanga Primary series.

It is not so much a matter of “not beneficial”. It is a matter of practitioners, students and teachers alike, breaking bones in feet. So for me as a Purna Yoga teacher it is safety that comes first and so jumping through and jumping back, especially for beginners, doesn’t provide enough benefit relative to risk.

I do however hope the blog is as you wish - beneficial.

You make a good point, I remember trying to leap through once, early on and caught my little toe. Thought i’d broken it but I was lucky and it was just badly bruised. Now I prefer the Jump through via Lolasana which is safer and much better for building strength anyway. Be great if you could make this point on the blog too as it’s an important issue. Cant see the risk of injury with the jump back though.
