Rating Yoga Schools in Toronto - Please Share!

Hello all. I am interested in obtaining my yoga certification. I have been checking out a few schools in Toronto and it has been difficult to find opinions and ratings online. I’ve gone to a few classes at some of them to get a feel for how they teach, but I don’t think I can base my decision on that alone. Does anyone have any experience with teacher training in Toronto?

I have been narrowing down to Downward Dog and Yoga Sanctuary. My primary interest is Ashtanga / Vinyasa due to these styles really challenging me. I think ultimately I would like to complete the 500 as well. Not just the 200-250. I want to get the most out of the program. I find some are a lot more expensive than others. I have found Downward Dog to be very pricey, but perhaps their program is also high up there in terms of value.

Please, any feedback, suggestions and personal experience would help. Its a difficult decision to make. Thank you

Going to a school and trying out classes is only an indication of the quality of the certification if the class teachers themselves were all trained in the school itself and represent only those teachings. And the ratings of a school mean nothing if the style they are teaching does not mesh well with you. My best suggestion is to find a teacher that you enjoy and connect with the most and ask them where they have done their training or recommend that you do, with all their years of meeting teachers from different schools and probably knowing many of the teachers who head curriculum at these places. Alternatively I would speak to former students you had graduated from there. When I went to my first YTT overseas I googled people who had finished the same program and asked them for a review. In retrospect it might have seemed a little stalky-ish to be found by some stranger asking about the class, but they were all very forthcoming with great information that helped me make my decision. Good luck!
