The Red Kyte
Beautiful grace; flying so high
Smoothness of movements
How I love to watch you
There is stillness within your movement
As you merge into being;
Doing what you do
As you sweep and swoop on imaginery currents of the wind
Why do you come here?
A rare bird in a rare place.
This gap in the Chilterns hills
Over this ancient Ridgeway path
As if time has stood still
Beautiful rare bird
Free as the wind
Watching you now over these hills
Like the words from a song
written by children
at a Thich Nhat Hanh Californian retreat,
spoken at the sangha:
“As solid as a mountain
I feel there is a space
deep inside of me
where I am free too”
Thank you mysterious bird.
Thank you.
It’s like you know
You are Mother’s grace
Knower, Known and Knowing
When I see you I feel this
Full of life and totally free
A freedom that connects me to spaciousness
The enormous expansion of the universe
Infinity. Complete open-ness
Maybe this is what we seek.
Yet hide from
It’s too much. Too vast
Yet we seek it
And because of fear we close.
Why do you say no so much?
Why do you withdraw?
What makes you go inside and reject?
When I look deep into your eyes
I see the purity and depth within
You desire to be open
Yet find it difficult to trust.
To accept what is offered.
Find the courage to take the first step
and allow the love to pour in
Then the healing will accelerate
And suffering will be gone
Let it all go
These words were for you
And now I realise they are for me
As I am you. You are me
The “I” offering the support
are many beings all around
The sangha is close at hand
“Stay Open” She told me yesterday
Allow her in
Be open like the flight of the red kyte
As she floats on the universal current
Let me float with you
And accept what is
And allow beauty and grace to flow through you
And unite in the great dance
The pure land within
