Regarding about yoga teaching

Hi all,

I want to salute everybody here, because I just right now signed up and want to join this community to understand the principle and the advantage of Yoga. I hope someone could give me support! Thanks!

I have some questions regarding about yoga, and I’m very new to this stuff.

  1. Where should I start to understand the quality principle of yoga and to
    elevate understanding further?

  2. I have problem lately to concentrating/focus of my studying. It could
be school, work, anything whatsoever. Does it help my mind to
    be more sharp?

  3. Will Yoga help me to understand the path of the Zen one day? I know it’s
very very difficult task, but I wish to become and understand
what is the meaning and point of living as a human being.

I do Not wish to go any schools, courses
whatsoever to learn yoga. Yoga has become such a huge
trend and meaningless for me. What I do understand, people just
want to earn money by teaching yoga, and that is something
I could do by myself by reading books or asking someone who
is experienced with this field.

I hope someone here could please help me out!

Thanks!

  1. You should start with what you are most interested in.
  2. Some yoga practices are supposed to help sharpen your mind. However, many of these practices would be dangerous to learn from a book rather than a qualified teacher.
  3. Perhaps yoga will enhance your understanding of Zen (are you referring to Zen Buddhism here?). I’ve certainly found the philosophy to be extremely helpful in helping my live my life, and it is quite compatible with Buddhism.

I’m not sure why you are opposed to learning yoga from a teacher rather than books… If you find a good teacher, they will be able to teach you much more deeply and effectively than any book. And those people who pour their heart and soul into studying and teaching yoga, why should they not be able to earn enough money to live through that?

Yogaa - Could you tell us a bit about yourself first? Perhaps if we know a bit more about you, we can give you some more specific information that could help you find what you are looking for.

Where are you from and what is your age? What are you studying in school? What has been your exposure to yoga before? Are you looking to learn yoga as in the physical exercises, or are you more interested in the meditation?
