Can somebody give me a step by step relexing system I could use before bed. I keep obessing about keeping my ipods, watches, sunglasses in mint condition and they are like controling my life into make me feel bad. I try to accept things as is, to flow and not fight work or other things that I find neg or inconvince. And to keep my mind to force on the present moment in time. Will mediting help to get rid of these obsessive thought patterns?
what I do
turn tv off at 10:30 around which time I would shower. after that I do some reading and sometimes writing while drinking some calming tea like chamomile. I do this for 45 or so minutes. giving myself down time where I focus on self and dont have the tv on helps me to relax. after this I am usually wound down enough to fall asleep. I dont use stimulants like caffeine, etc… If you do I would suggest you stop before 5 pm
sounds almost simlar. I try tea in the afternoon. A hard workout of steper, and mechical wts helps me to relex. I been getting into bed and getting into corpse pose and then I relax each part of my body and then do the counting of the breaths and then go to bed. I keep having those obsessive thoughts about my ipod is in mint condition or not and my watch, sunglasses and I can’t seem to get rid of that worry some feeling. If someone could tell me a perfect system to help me heal. I be the happiest man on earth.
well remember that there are 8 limbs of yoga. I dont know what you are doing but all things in yoga should be addressed. I am currently reading VASITHAS YOGA and it addresses concerns about life. studying a book like this will challenge your thought process when it comes to things like this. Also, look at your post and what you are writing. You obsess over perfection of your material stuff and you ask for the perfect system of going to bed. YOu will not find the perfect system so maybe a good practice for you would be to adapt an imperfect system and learn how to make that work. I hope you understand I am not trying to be negative in any way. In yoga, just poses will not get you to the promise land so to speak, they will help yes but you also have to change your mind on how you see life. Does meditation help, yes that can as well, does discussion like this help, sure can. I recommend a book that challenges you. I personally like the one I am reading, you may like something else.
Weights bring on muscular energy and muscular energy is something you may have a little too much of. do a google search on muscle and organic energy. Adding organic energy can add flow to your life instead of so much force. You seem to be more forcefull and that brings on the perfectionists behavior. So while working with weights may release certain chemicals to make you feel better in the moment, it may be counterproductive for you.
Also, maybe you could do some practices that can alleviate some of the perfectionists behavior. Throw a towel on the floor and leave it there all day. Wash your car and leave the water on it for water spots, then ask yourself if one towel on the floor really matters. I am not suggesting to live like a pig, but to realize that some things just dont matter that much. Writting this and thinking about it is good for me as well. so thanks, Yoga is like a soup, just one ingredient wont do
Good luck

Well I am wanting a relaxing method to help stop being perfect and worrying and getting up set if a strach or smear occurrs. I did do what you said in the last post I had a ginger tea and I took a shower plus went out with family to have chininse food. Asia food aways makes me feel better. Does the book you are reading address this problem? How do I view life differentlly? Can you explain more on the wts and how it makes it counterproductive. I have notice that it does make me want more and more fun. I get very concern about the qty constrication of the item I am buying. gees this is example of perfection. well thanks for the advice I think the more we talk about this topic and if any body else can put their two cents in I would like that very much.
Have you tried any tapes for meditation/relaxation?Guided meditation usually helps me to unwind, normally I do not have trouble falling asleep. With the thought patterns - how about some positive affirmations? I have tried and they really do help. Let me know if you are interested, there is a good book on that.
yeah I am interested in these tapes. Can you download into a ipod nano? what is the name of the book and is it on amzon. I been keeping a joural booklet and I list good events I am going to do. I keep writing think postive, think in the present moment, keep center, accept things, events , poeple as they are. and finally I write postive thoughts in list format.

you must break free from the ipod
I am not sure if you’ve heard about Louise L. Hay. She works with positive affirmations, different emotional situations and blocks, etc.I love her CD - “You can do it”, there are also a series of books, particularly I like - “You can heal your life”.She’s got a web-site -www.hayhouse.com or her personal web-site www.louisehay.com the Hayhouse website there is a link to an audiobooks store, so you can buy books for your Ipod. I actually bought a CD and downloaded it on the MP3player, so I do my affirmations on my way to work riding a local train. Works for me. I do not think Ipod is a problem as such depends how and what you use it for. My collection is pretty minimal - affirmations, some classical music (very relaxing and easy to listen to) and some Enya (any new age music is good, I find it relaxing, especially if it is in a language I can not undestand since I can not sing along). I think of it as a tool only,a pretty good and useful one.Good luck with this one! Let me know if you need any more info or ideas.
You may also consider talking to your doctor. Yoga can be very healing, but for some people medication is also required to help put them on the path to being at peace with themselves. I’m not saying medication can fix your problems, but it may help you focus enough and be open enough to let yoga heal you.
Letting the ipod go is definitely a good idea.
Namaste
yoga and pills? The reason we need pills is because we get away from our true selves so to take away the need for pills we must find our true selves. How hard is someone willing to work to fix themselves is the question. Some people will only put forth enough effort to open a pill bottle, some will put forth more. imo, I think our doctors cures are part of the problem, not the solution. For me this issue is kind of touchy because I am a school teacher and see so many kids on medication they dont need. Breathe good, Eat good, love good
Well I look at her site and think she has good stuff and I’ll think about it maybe boaders have it. I think I just need to get my yoga sets back on a reguler basis that is when my family is unpack from traveling and have time alone. Plus starting my med as well. Plus some healing time.
