Ringing in right ear?

I have had this ringing start up every 3-5 months and its lasted a few hours to a couple of days at a time. I 've checked out the possiblity of tinnitus, and it is not. It sounds sometimes like a radio frequency and other times like air whooshing through a pipe. it is very annoying and sometimes exhibits a LOT of pressure on the right ear. It makes me feel quite unbalanced. I do a ton of reiki and it doesn’t seem to help. I’ve been to doctors so I know it is not physical. Any advice?? All I want to do is lay in bed and lie on the one ear so I cant hear anything! I have asked (spiritually) for the possibility of this noise being dulled down , even a little bit. A few times it has worked and the sound has lessened or even stopped, this time a round it is almost getting louder!

I also notice that it is a lot worse when I am under stress, (I am thinking it must have something to do with energy, because it takes me so long to get rebalanced after dealing with stress)

Tinnitus is a condition of ‘ringing’ in the ears. You may check that out. It can be caused by high blood pressure (anxiety). Also, have you taken medication such as anti-inflammitories or ibuprophen? This may affect inner ear and balance, and ear ringing.

Also if you ingest caffeine, it can aggravate or induce tinnitis in some people.

I too had issues with my ears - pain, ringing, discomfort. The ear doctor examined me and said my ears looked fantastic. I asked him about the possibility of TMJ (an issue with the jaw being misaligned) and he agreed it was very likely that it would cause my issues.
I also spoke to my masseuse and chiropractor, and was told that TMJ can cause ear problems, including tinnitis.
Does your jaw sometimes pop when you chew, or yawn? It might be worth looking into. I was given some massage techniques to use to help relax my jaw muscles (and it hurt lol but it worked) and was given only an adjustment or two on my jaw. It helped a lot.

Thank you for your replies, I have checked about tinninitus, and it is not that, as the rining I experience is different sounds and comes and goes, whereas tinninitus is a constant high pitched rining, -my dad has tinninitus. Im sure that it is anxiety related, but Im not sure what this means (physically)I do have TMJ, but it rarely bothers me that much.

Hi Angel,

What you are hearing sounds like the Aum (om) vibration, it is heard in the right ear by people who do a lot of yoga and meditate. Paramahansa Yogananda talks about it a lot in his SRF lessons. If you wish to contact SRF ? Self Realization Fellowship you could talk with a nun from there. They will be able to help you understand more about it.

I once had a sinus infection that left me unable to hear anything out of my right ear except this annoying sound of whooshing air and slight buzzing. There was also a lot of pressure in that ear, and a slight headache, but otherwise no symptoms. My doctor told me to cut out milk and sugar for a few days and drink tons of water and salts (to rehydrate). I also got a humidifier. The pressure started to lessen right away, and gradually the whooshing started to dissipate and I could hear things again.

Medical mumbojumbo - sinus infections can build up mucus secretions and block the tubes that run from your ear to those sinuses, creating a pressure change like when you go up to high altitude, except with no relief. Increasing immune response and lowering mucus secretions by re-hydrating and avoiding certain foods can lower the symptoms until the infection goes away (either naturally or with antibiotics). If you’re under stress, your immune response is also affected, which is why so many people get sick when they are stressed out. These types of ear pressure problems are also seen quite frequently with allergies.

I don’t know if your problem has ANYTHING to do with sinuses, but just in case.

if u been into lot of yoga specially pranayam you may hear various sounds depending on the stage of advancement, more pronounced in right ear. the first stage sound is like buzzing of bees. u may like to refer hath yoga pradipika.,

I saw a Gilligan’s Island episode once where the fillings in his tooth acted as a radio receiver and the castaways could pick up radio signals. Crazy as it sounds, this may be true.

As Sherlock Holmes said, “when you have eliminated the impossible, whatever remains, however improbable, must be the truth.”

Thanks for everyones replies. I know it is not related to my diet ( I am vegan) so its not sugar or dairy or anything like that. It started up after my yoga teacher training course on the weekend (I did a lot of meditation etc.) I was thinking this morning of how best to describe the rining and I figured it out! It sounds like one of those tibetan singing bowls! I was doing a lot of yoga and had stress and was close to my cycle all at the same time. Crazy! I will read Pradipika - I have just gotten it in the mail for my course, so I will search for this section.

Maybe thats why? I feel that when I’m fasting…

Or maybe you receive a mesage from the Universe?

hi all, I am new here…but this attracted my attention as i too have a ringing sound in my left ear. I do a lot of vinyasa yoga and meditation. According to me i think there could be a nerve pinch in my shoulder which is causing this. As i had a ear examination and it came clear. I used to carry grocery bags for long distances on my shoulders…maybe i injured myself…but still my diagnosis will go on…planning to do MRI…
all the best…

hi, just bumping in to see if any more replies :)…

My ringing just reduced considerably and i was surprised…maybe i was just paranoid and i hear it only once in a while

but then i was reading an article as to how yoga can bring in all sorts of pain, vibrations and hearing…it was comforting actually…
