Sciatica problem crossing legs

Hi All,

I have one more question before I start my journey with Yoga. At this time I have Sciatica on my left side. When I sit on the floor and try to cross my legs one over the other, I can’t get the left leg over the right leg when sitting. I am wondering and hoping that by getting a little more flexible that in time I will be able to work this out. If anyone knows or has had this please let me know. Thanks

Generally speaking there are two types of issues which results in symptomology in the sciatic nerve. The first is an issue in the lower part of the spine (lumbar spine) while the second is an issue with the piriformis muscle. The former is typically referred to as “true” sciatica while the second is “false”. They are addressed in two very different methods.

It is absolutely possible to have the symptoms “go away” through proper practice however “proper” is defined based on assessment and is not always the result of “more flexibility”.
