I too am a nurse and have a problem with sciatica, but mine started because of an auto accident. I’m lucky enough that it is not a disk problem but from muscle spasms. So, any poses that stretch out the gluteals & the piriformis muscles helps out alot.
The poses that helped me out in the begining:
Supta Padangusthasana (Reclining Big Toe Pose)
Utthita Trikonasana (Extended Triangle Pose)
Utthita Parsvakonasana (Extended Side Angle Pose)
I usually do variations of extended side angle pose when I start to feel the muscles starting to tighten.
