Scientist in yoga ? Do you think there is conflict between these ?
Also … you say you use science to solve problems in your life. If these porblems are of personal nature than how can be the scientific method applied to them ? Would you say that you are lead solely by reason even in personal matters ?
So far there has been little to no conflict. Some things my yoga instructor says take on a tiny bit of a religious tone, but I have no problem with most religious teachings until people begin to take them literally.
In terms of problem solving in my life - I definitely try to solve my problems with logic rather than emotion, but I realize that as a human beings emotional state is very important to us. So I guess I try to logically see what the best solution is, factoring everything including my own and other people’s emotions… If that makes sense.
My favorite definition of science is “the formation of testable hypotheses and the subsequent testing of those hypotheses.” I think most people do this in their lives without knowing it. For example - someone might decide “mexican food tastes bad/is bad for you” because they have only been to taco bell. After gathering more data on a trip to Mexico, however, they abandon this hypothesis for one that more accurately represents their entire experience. This is kind of a lame example but it was what jumped to mind…
Cheers and thanks for the question!
