Short tendons

Hi everyone,

I have just recently completed a 350hr hatha teacher training course and I just started teaching this week. I have a student withe short tendons in his hands and legs and has flat feet. I found when he was in downward dog it was very difficult for him to work the palms of his hands flat to the ground and also his feet. I read somewhere it would benefit him taking a shorter dog pose. I just wanted to get some advise on what variations I could give him and also if yoga will help his situation and maybe there are some poses he should avoid. He seems very afraid that his hands will just snap.

Thanks

Hello and welcome.

For this I’d need quite a bit more information.
Is the student medically diagnosed, self-diagnosed? Male, female, old, young? Practicing in what style and for how long?

Sorry, it’s simply not a robust enough picture for therapeutic feedback.
The best I could muster based on what is here is “it depends”.

Hi there,

He is male, this is his first time practising yoga and its a beginner course in Hatha Yoga I am teaching. He was medically diagnosed and has it from childhood. He is in his mid to late 20’s.

Sorry I was so vague earlier, I hope this is enough information.

Thanks
