Sivananda Bahamas

Has anyone ever taken the TTC at the Sivananda ashram in the Bahamas? Or visited the ashram? I am trying to decide between the program in India(Kerela), Kutir (Himalayas) or the program in the Bahamas. I would think that the location (Paradise Island) is a rather commericial area being located so near Nassau…if anyone has any thoughts, insights or opinions on this location or any of the other Sivananda ashrams, please drop a line…

Peace,
Grace

Hi Grace,

I just spent some time in India in Rishikesh at the Sivanada Ashram at the Divine Life Society (I presume that this is what you refering to, if not then it is worth investigating) doing a mediation and yoga programme there. I very much enjoyed it, you live in the ashram and therefore experience Ashramic life as well and as it is just the bare necessities it gives one a sense of de-tachment as well. The food is always satvic and wonderfully prepared. This one I can really recommend. It is not commercialised, but please note that the discipline is fairly strict in terms of the programme.

You can visit their website at: The Divine Life Society, Sivananda Ashram, Rishikesh, India

Hope this helps.

and it was an amazing experience. All thought it was a transform point in life, to the better. We were about 50, from different places, international. The schedule is tight, but at the end one has the feeling of achievement, and it is great!!
Would do it again, any time. Highly recommended. The program is very serious, gives foundations of classic yoga, including philosophy, karma yoga and of course, asanas.
The water of the ocean is crystal clear, and in the little free time, one can go for a swim or snorkel. Lovely coconut trees…and if two asanas classes a day make you too streched, there is the well being center, where one can get ayurvedic massage or yogi thai massage. I took the second option, 1.5 hour of having the muscles relaxed. No pains afterwords…
Oh, the food is home made, vegeterian (strict rules, no caffein, no meet, no oinions-ayurvedic diet). If you cant without some caffein, there is a starbucks some 10 minutes walk away. Oh, I didnt say that…
well, shortly, I had good time, and became a certified sivananda yoga teacher, acknowledged internationally (in europe as well, where I intend to teach).
Go for it.

I hope go there for the summer time and find the place lovely like you been enjoyed
