Sivananda Yoga TTC in Neyyar Kerala

Hi All,

I am looking for a bit of advice!
I am about to book a teacher training course & would love to do this in India.
I found a centre at the above that sounds perfect.

Only thing putting me of is I have read they train over 100 students at a time. It doesnt bother me that much, I would just be concerened that they may not be able to correct asanas ect if they cant even see where you are or what your doing!??

I have emailed the centre but they havent got back to me yet…
Its an expensive course compaired to others I have seen so I want to be sure about it before I book.

Has anyone trained there? If so would you reccomend it?
Also any other ttc that you can reccomend?
I like the sivananda/hatha style yoga but also enjoy a bit of ashtanga.

Many Thanks in Advance

Hi Katrina,

I did a Sivananda TTC fairly recently (last summer, not in Kerala though) - we also were about 90 students. For the Asana Classes, they have one main teacher and many teaching assistants, especially for the first two weeks. Rest assured that every single one will receive plenty of personal attention. It was a wonderful TTC experience and I can highly recommend it.

Om shanti.

Hi Arati,

Thanks for your reply. I will book it now, its reasuring to know there are assistants helping out.

Just out of curiosity where you confident enough to teach after doing this course? And was the certification sufficent?

Yes, I was/am confident in teaching an open Sivananda style class and have started teaching within three months of being certified. I am taking currently Leslie Kaminoff’s online course in Yoga Anatomy, as I feel that I should enrich my knowledge and familiarity with anatomy.

Enjoy the TTC - it will be an amazing experience!!!

I hope to visit the Ashram in Kerala some time in the future too…

Om shanti.
