Solid block

I currently use a foam block. But being 6’2", 225 and with poor balance does not work well with a foam block. Being new to the yoga practice and yoga props game I would like some input on the different types of solid blocks out there.
Cork: I keep thinking of a decaying wine bottle cap
Wood: to generic
cedar: mmm, smells nice but will it serve my purpose?
and… what else am I missing?
I was looking for Oak but the search fell short.

Thank you in advance.

If I were living in the body you mention I’d be looking for a SOLID wood block. Some wood blocks are hollow and I find this less stabilizing. Cork is “ok” at best but I personally don’t like it. Foam blocks serve different purposes but they are not stabilizers. I have two bamboo blocks which I like but I believe the ones at the studio are a slightly harder wood - though I’ve read bamboo and oak have similar densities.

Where can I find these at a reasonable $$?

Have you looked into the blocks that Jade Yoga make?

By “reasonable” do you mean $23 per pair?

Not sure where you are but you can get a wood hunk at any hardware store pretty cheap.
